The Ocean Affairs Council was established in Kaohsiung City on April 28, 2018. It mainly plans, promotes, and implements the integration of ocean affairs and ocean policies. The Ocean Affairs Council is the first central ministry to have been set up in Southern Taiwan. Adjacent to the Port of Kaohsiung, it symbolizes the government’s starting with an ocean-oriented mindset and its determination to be devoted to marine development.

The Coast Guard Administration, the Ocean Conservation Administration, and the National Academy of Marine Research under the Ocean Affairs Council will continue to uphold the spirit of sustainability and co-prosperity. Through a public-private partnership, the abundant resources from the private sector have been introduced to build Taiwan’s into a marine nation of “ecological sustainability, ocean security, and industrial prosperity.
