Promote research on Coast Guard volunteer organizations
Date:2024-01-31
Unit:Department of Maritime Security

Due to the limitations of the government’s capacity and the infinite potential of civilians, this research aims to assess possible operational methods that can be used by our nation to promote Coast Guard volunteer organizations to assist Coast Guard Administration (CGA) units in their duties. The research methodology includes document analysis, interviews, and expert panels. Document analysis primarily focused on collecting cases of non-government rescue organizations in the US, Canada, and Australia, in addition to our nation’s volunteer policeman and fireman systems. Interviews and expert panels primarily focused on collecting further insights into the participants’ views on the promotion of Coast Guard volunteer organizations. This research will propose possible operational methods that can be used by our nation to promote Coast Guard volunteer organizations, and analyze its advantages and disadvantages to serve as a reference for the Ocean Affairs Council when they promote Coast Guard volunteer organizations.
