On March 7, 2026, OAC welcomed the traditional voyaging canoe "Alingano Maisu" from Palau at the Argo Yacht Club in Kaohsiung Port. The event was held in collaboration with the Council of Indigenous Peoples, National Sun Yat-sen University, and maritime communities from Taiwan and abroad. Navigated using traditional knowledge of stars, ocean currents, and ecological cues, the vessel undertook a voyage of approximately 6,200 nautical miles across the western Pacific. Its arrival marks an important milestone in strengthening Austronesian maritime cultural exchange between Taiwan and Pacific island nations, revitalizing traditional navigation knowledge, and advancing joint efforts toward ocean sustainability.
