OAC hosted the “Capacity Building on Integrating Coastal Blue Carbon Ecosystems into Climate Policies in the APEC Region,” structured around three core themes: integration of blue carbon science and policy, blue carbon markets and pricing mechanisms, and social inclusion and gender participation. The workshop brought together 40 representatives, including APEC economies, international NGOs, enterprises, academic institutions, and international certification bodies, injecting new momentum into climate action across the Asia-Pacific region. The event also forms a key component of Taiwan’s “natural carbon sinks” strategy under the 2050 net zero roadmap and aligns with the direction set out in the 2025 National Ocean Policy White Paper: positioning the ocean as a solution to climate change
