The 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP30) was held in Belém, Brazil. In alignment with the conference’s “Ocean Day” theme on November 18, OAC participated in UNFCCC COP for the first time. On that day, OAC hosted a side event titled “Ocean and Climate” in the Green Zone. Lu Hsiao-Yun, Director-General of the Ocean Conservation Administration, served as a keynote speaker, presenting Taiwan’s latest developments and governance strategies in the field of blue carbon ecosystems and engaging in an intergenerational dialogue with international organizations and youth representatives. The forum delivered substantive content closely aligned with global priorities on climate change and forward-looking blue carbon governance. It attracted strong participation, with a full audience in attendance, demonstrating Taiwan’s proactive and concrete contributions to addressing global climate challenges.
