The 25th Ocean and Fisheries Working Group (OFWG) Plenary Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was held in Guangzhou, China, from February 4 to 5. Taiwan’s delegation was led by Deputy Director Chen Tai-Ting of the Department of International Development, OAC, and participated alongside academic representatives. Discussions among participating economies were active and built on recent priorities, focusing on three key themes: marine debris, combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and small-scale fisheries and aquaculture. The meeting emphasized future project planning and implementation outcomes across economies, and included extensive discussions on OFWG policy documents, including the 2026–2028 Strategic Plan and the 2026 Work Plan, to advance ongoing initiatives.
