On November 1, 2025, the Fleet Branch of the Coast Guard Administration under the Ocean Affairs Council held a dual-vessel commissioning and launching ceremony, during which the 4,000-ton patrol vessel "Taipei" was formally commissioned. At the same event, the first high-latitude, long-range oceanic patrol vessel Siraya was christened and launched. This marks the first Coast Guard vessel named after an Indigenous group and represents a key milestone in Taiwan’s domestic shipbuilding policy and the Coast Guard’s new vessel construction program. These two vessels will enhance capabilities in maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, fisheries patrol, and response to gray-zone activities, strengthening Taiwan’s capacity to safeguard its maritime domain.
